I think I have the info in order to start dosing kalkwazer but I have another question, How low should my alkalinity be before I need to raise with a 2 part or something else? My understanding is that Kalk is used for keeping stable but not so much to raise if too low. So what number would be too low? Would like to test my alk this weekend and get on a dosing schedule if need be. Thanks. OH, and what might you recommend for raising alk?

Depending on your range you want your Alk and corals in the system I keep my Alk around 7.5-8 and dose only kalk to keep my levels stable and have a good amount of sps including acros and does the job!

I keep mine also around 8 and dose only to keep it stable. I use Red Sea KH/Alkalinity (foundation B). I have softies and SPS corals.

Most people keep their Alkalinity within 7-11 dkh. Both 2 part and running kalkwasser are methods of supplementing calcium and alkalinity and should be dosed in tandem with regular testing. There is no need to do both. You should read up http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-04/rhf/feature/index.php
Thanks will do. I had heard that one should not use kalkwazer to try to raise if below a certain mark because it would take a bunch to do so. But I will need to test anyway to see if im low at all. Thanks again
