I’ve been using Red Sea blue bucket salt and my alk is 8.8 I’ve just bought a bucket of tropical Marin pro and my mix is at 7.6 alk what is it I use to get the alk up in my new salt water mix to get to 8.8

Thanks

You could research kalkwasser or use something they call two part dosing(which actually includes three parts lol). I just did the same switch but I am aiming for 8.0 alkalinity. I use the red Sea Reef foundation package.

I will her into dosing which will sort the issue out but it’s still a newish system with only a few lps drags so weekly water changes keep everything stable atm when I add more corals I will start dosing

It’s just to you the alk of the fresh salt mix to match the tank

It’s 300litre about 70gal total and I do a 20% weekly water change I wanted to keep the alk around the 8.8 which it is currently

I’ll have a look at kalkwasser

Perfect so would I just make up my normal salt mix test my alk and the add in the kalkwasser to get to where I want to be
Have Hanna checker for alk

Sorry I am not sure about using kalkwasser I have never used it. But when I mix my water I bring the alkalinity, temp and salinity up to where I want it and then add to my tank.

You can drip kalc to make up for evaporation. It will add alk, ca and the fun part is it boosts ph. However water changes will slowly bring your alk down and this will not hurt your tank at all. I run a heavy sps system at targeting alk at 7.3.
