Morse code maroon clowns are another type of Png(Papua new Guinea) maroons like Png lightning maroons. Witch makes breeding the 2 the second best choice behind Png LM/Png LM. Hopefully I explained that correctly [emoji4]What is a mrose codea room I haven't even seen these yet
ThanksThose guys are beautiful best of luck with the hatchery . I want one of these amazing peices of nature but my wife shots own the price tag. I hope hobbyists like you continue with the success and hardworking and continue to produce these guys as to make it feasible for other aquarists
Yes, I'll put you on my list.Hey not to hijack but is there a way to get put on anyone's list for a lightning maroon
Matt had the original, but I'm not sure why you would think he knows more about them than anyone (they are just a white stripe maroon color morph, white stripe has been around for years ). He blogged and caused drama for two plus years while the rest of the world waited for a Lightning (I have only had mine 10 months and all ready have lightnings). Not everyone shares Matt's opinion and views, there are all ready gold stripe maroons being produced. Now it's up to the consumer to choose whether or not to support the breeders and buy "gold" lightnings (and I don't see them saying No). At this time I support Matt's opinion and only have white stripe pairs producing Lightning Maroons.https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/m...s-lightning-maroon-clown.199125/#post-2312597
Here's @mpedersen helping with this question in a thread of ours. He's the original breeder of them so knows more than anyone about them n best mate.
What about breeders like me? I will have them available to the public.Find a lfs to order from sea and reef. That's the breeder of them available to public. They're wholesale only.
ThanksShaun has awesome, healthy fish and his clowns are especially good. I have 2 pairs of his captive bred clowns in my tank right now! Can wait to see these guys grow.
You yourself stated you have about 10 months experience with these so Matt has years over you and everyone with them. There's a reason the original went to him and not to the highest bidder that being his expertise in breeding. Never said your clowns were of poor quality if you mistook it that way I apologize. I for one hate the lightning maroon clown being cast as a designer clown when they are a natural rare clown from the wild. The more people muddy the genetics of them they lose the beauty of the fact it came from nature. Just because we can do something doesn't mean that we should. There's enough dislike for the designer clowns by many because of our manipulation of the genetics I don't want to see the lightning maroon clown fall into that category. Also I was offering information on who currently is supplying the retail lfs across the country. They'll be many available as more hobbyist as yourself breed them but fact remains the supplier to lfs is sea and reef at this time. Hopefully more continue as you and keep the genetics clean and breed healthy fish for more to enjoy without doubt we need more suppliers for these. I also have noticed in the handful of them I've delt with they seem to be less aggressive then the goldstipe are. Another reason they shouldn't cross and then become more aggressive as time goes on. But I agree that it will happen and it's sad we can't just enjoy what God has blessed us with without having to manipulate things because we can. White Stripes are typically more aggressive than Gold Stripes, but would agree the lightnings I have dealt with seem less aggressive.
