3 months a go I evolved from two-part dosing to a calciumreactor. I have chosen for a dastaco reactor. Due to the ph drop (from 8.2 to 8.0) and an increase in phosphate due to the ph drop in my tank I have chosen to dose kalkwasser. I have done an icp test lately and made some corrections to Sodium, Chloride, Magnesium and sulphate. After using two-part for about 4 years there were some unbalances in these macro elements. Everything is fine now.

I want to dose magnesium on a dosing pump en was wondering which version is the best one to use? I suppose a combi of magnesiumchloride and magnesiumsulphate. Which Ratio can I best use and how can I compensate for the loss in sodium over time? Everyday there will also be a lost from skimming which will not be compensated. Perhaps make a dosing solution of : magnesiumchloride, magnesiumsulphate and sodiumchloride?

Randy has a formula in this forum for dosing magnesium. I believe it uses magnes chloride and magnesium sulfate. You can also add magnesium via your calcium reactor.

The recipe for dosing magnesium given in this forum is meant to be in a two-part dosing schedule. I don't use sodium bicarbonate and calciumchloride but a calciumreactor which doesn't increase my sodium chloride . Magnesium via a dastaco is not working very good due to the low ph value in the reactor and is not advised via the developers. And it is much easier to just dose this parameter ....

What did you end up doing? I was dripping my dastaco effluent through a bag of Remag, but the mag level is too unstable

I made a solution of :
- 1 liter RO
- 250 gram magnesiumchloride
-250 gram magnesiumsulphate

And put this on a doser. With an icp over a few months I can check where my ratio between sodium/magnesium/chloride/sulphate is going to.
