My magnesium is currently at around 1200 ppm. The brs calc says i need about 200ml of the magnesium part to raise to around 1300. My tank is about 29g in volume i did the calc as if the tank was 25g in water volume. Im using the salifert test kits for mag and calc. How accurate are they if you preform the test consistently. I am just going to dose 20ml a day until i reach my target. Im using the tropic marine pro salt which mag is roughly 1350 and calc 440.

When you say the salt mix is roughly "X", is that from measurement with that same kit of yours, or are you relying on a manufacturer claim?

The salinity may just be low. What is it and how are you measuring it?

salt is manufacturers claim. my sal is 1.025 raised to 1.026 and using brs refractometer (i did calibrate it). I was just wondering whats a safe lvl to raise magnesium per day.

I know what you are wondering. I'm trying to make sure you need it. A lot of this job is answering the questions that aren't asked. lol

Try the kit on the new salt water. It may well be off. Magnesium kits are notoriously problematic, especially the Red Sea kit.

With that caution said, there's no reason to go fast, so raising magnesium 25 ppm per day is a fine plan. The concern is toxic impurities such as ammonia or metals that may be in it, not the magnesium itself.
