So my red reefer pro kit reads Mg at 1200 ppm. I want to get it around 1350ppm ish. The bulk reef supply calculator says I need to add I think it was 117 FL oz. I dosed one yesterday. My question is, does that number sound absurd? It seems like a big number to me but I could be wrong.
 
It takes a very large amount of magnesium to dose, so it is very likely correct.

My bigger concern is whether the test is correct. Magnesium kits seem to lead to incorrect results in some cases.

What salt mix and salinity?
 
Then I'd be a bit surprised if it is really only 1200, unless you've added quite a lot of calcium, and alkalinity over time with no magnesium.

In any case, boosting it a bit is not a problem, but it always takes a lot.
