I am going to be using this to raise nitrates in my reef tank ,

It is made from potassium nitrate but how do I work out what to dose per day ?

Has any one been using this yet ?

What are your levels now and what do you want them to be at? @Randy Holmes-Farley may have some insight

Hi and thanks for the reply :)

My No3 is 0.0 ! Most iv seen is 0.2ppm

And I would like to be in the range of 2ppm

My ALK is about 8 dkh running on a dosing pump

PO4 is 0.025 and under just now

I add 10ml per day of red sea A+B

My system is 360 litters with a range of sps and Lps corals

You should dose 4.75ML if i'm not mistaken to raise it from 0 to .2, however i'm not sure what else is in that formula since it specifies for a planted aquarium. #reefsquad please correct me if i'm wrong! :)

Wow thats great and thank you for the reply

I will dose 1ml per day till the no3 reaches 2ppm and see how the tank consumes the nitrate so I can work out my working dosage

Iv also just posted an ICP test to marinlab so I will be accurate on potassium in 10 days as well

It will work OK, but remember it has more than nitrate and so is adding other forms too , and they are very vague/unclear/incorrect wording in describing what it is.

I only run sirprax 25mm ceramic rings as bio filtration and a bubble Magnus curve 5 which has an up graded 2000lph pump !

I think there is about 1kg of ceramic rings in the sump

Iv never had to use phosphate remover or carbon like nopox

It's just a really clean running system

What you can do is play with your skimmer.
Either reduce the amount of gallons you push through, dial it to a really dry skim, or put it on a timer.
It's cheap and it works.
My skimmer runs skims only 12 hours a day, the other 12 hours it's on but my pump is programmed to only 50%.
In that case I still run oxygen through the system.

I have even turned the skimmer off for a week and it's still the same !

I feed 4 cubes of mixed frozen fish food a day plus red sea a and b

Also some sps food too

I been thinking about taking out some of the ceramic bio media to see what would happen then

I know I just get worried that I might crash the tank with out a skimmer ,
Just dose not feel right if you know what I mean ?

Like putting red bull on your corn flakes in the morning instead of milk lol

Making coffee with redbull is never wrong, just make sure you do it before 8am :p

If you test everyday on No3 and Po4 and get to know your tank there isn't a reason to be afraid to crash the tank.
You can also mix your own No3.
For a long time I used stumpremover but now I use sodium nitrate from Wolf.
