Hi all. I’m planning to run hypo in my fowlr for a month and I know ph can be an issue… Currently planning to use seachem reef buffer but want to know what others use for this purpose. Also it looks like reef buffer will raise alkalinity does that affect fish if it’s too high? Thanks.

All of the ph buffer products out there are basically just alkalinity additives. You'd be better off running bubblers, skimmers and more surface agitation
All while ensuring good outside air entering the home or particular area.

If you haven't seen it, here is a write up on hyposalinity.

I’m going thru hypo on a 450g as we speak - check out my build thread. I’m going to be at 1.009 by this afternoon to start the clock.

To keep pH up, I skim wet and aimed the gyres to the water surface for agitation. I’ve also tried to dose soda ash if pH is low but mine has been hovering around 7.7-7.9.

Another thing to consider is monitoring temp and ammonia spike due to snails/inverts die offs. I literally got Prime this morning.

It’s my first time doing Hypo so just sharing
