Has anyone had good results with raising their ph level using baking soda? Any problems with corals or fish? Mine is constantly at 7.8 on both my display and QT tank and I want to raise it up a bit

I would dose baking soda only to raise alkalinity. Don't worry too much about your pH. Keep your alk, calcium and magnesium in line and your pH will follow.

Dosing to raise pH can cause more harm than good.

Your pH is fine and I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Oh ok thanks...I'll have to check my alk, calcium and magnesium but they are usually perfect.

I agree that dosing to raise PH can cause more issues. 7.8 is pretty normal, definitely nothing to worry about. Try a little extra surface agitation, it helps.

Yeah I figured 7.8 wasn't bad because it's been like that since I setup the tank and everything in it is doing fine. And I did try and get more surface agitation by tilting my powerhead up a bit...I might be able to move my return hose up a bit to get a little more too

I found out the hardway that dosing Kalk inline with a ATO is not the best way to do it. It depends on the amount of evaporation and if you have too much evaporation then Kalk in-line with a ATO is not the best solution because you will get ALK spikes.
