Ok my dkh is at a pretty good level. I was using a ph buffer to get my ph up and that seemed to be my problem the buffer. It would raise my ph for a little while but raise alkalinity. So my dkh was always high and low ph. I have been reading that i should be able to add pickling lime to fix the ph. So i pour in a gallon of ro water in a day i dont have a auto top off. So sometimes i could add a teaspoon of pickling lime in a gallon of ro water and be safe right??
Thanks for any help

IMO Leave your PH alone!! As long as it's in the acceptable ranges for a reef tank you've nothing to worry about. PH fluctuates throughout the day. Chasing it with chemicals is a sure way to cause bigger issues.

My ph is always depleting and it stays around 7 if I don't add supplements. A reefer buddy told me about this method and that's exactly what I do. 1 teaspoon of pickling lime to one gallon of rodi water. I put a plastic drip line with a knot tied so it drips one drop about every 5 to 8 seconds.

Don't actually know what your low pH actually is but I do agree with the comments above.

FWIW pH is low with higher carbon dioxide.

So always measure pH just before lights out.

algae (plant) action under lights will lower carbon dioxide and raise pH.

So I use macro algaes to insure the tank becomes a ned consumer of carbon dioxide and producer of oxygen each 24 hour period.

the pH may drop (depending on alk) during lights out but as long as the tank recovers to high values just before lights out then things are ok.

A fuge will help with pH, and you can look into a CO2 scrubber if you want some awesome DIY tech. youtube or search the forums
