Raising pH

How hi can I raise pH without it hurting my biological cycle? I have a tank that I am trying to eradicate aiptasia in and it is empty of everything except substrate and aiptasia. Wondering if I could try nuking them for a period.

Your best bet would be to go buy like 5 peppermint shrimp don't feed them anything. They will take care of all that aptaisa if there is no other food.

I considered, but there is no way to be certain that they get every nook and cranny, especially around the tank walls and trim.

If you want to raise the pH you could consider using calcium carbonate or sodium biocarbonate

I can't see this working. You'll precipitate massive amounts of calcium and magnesium carbonate and hydroxide before raising the pH enough to kill aiptasia.

You're welcome. I resorted to a chelmon marginalis fish to beat back aiptasia in my system.
