Raising ph?

Switched from 2-part to kalk today. I hope that it will give me a shift in ph. I don't have any experience with kalk. How long does it's ph boosting effect last?

Old thread, but I wanted to see if anyone wants to keep it going.

My thought is that ALK and CAL swings are harder on all coral than a PH swing is. I want to up my PH - but I don't want to run kalk since I don't have very much demand. My current params are as follows.

Cal: 425
Alk: 8.0 - Dosing about 1ml every 2 days keeps it about right. (only dose on test days)
PH 7.78-7.81

Does anyone have a baseline of raising ALK's effect on PH? If I run it at 10DKH will that bump the PH permanently?

All other things being equal, an alk increase from 8 to 10 dKH will boost alk by about 0.1 pH unit.

It might be easier to raise pH other ways, such as more fresh air. [emoji3]
