I am currently running the eshopps HOB overflow and a jebao return pump that I can control the speed.

My water level in my display is a little low and I am looking to raise it.

I know I am able to speed up the pump to to increase water level but the overflow makes a loud gurgling sound when that happens so I want to maintain the same power setting.

The filter box is positioned all the way up to the tank already.

It sounds like you want to DIY a muffler for the overflow, there are a couple of good options you can find here and there. You could also buy a bigger overflow, but that might not fix your problem. Or you could just increase the water flow and figure out how to muffle the overflow (maybe with filter floss?

If you’re handy, cut a piece of acrylic matching the internal length of the skim box. Use acrylic cement and bond it, covering the lower portion of the weir teeth (shortening the weir teeth) thereby raising the water level.
