I’m from Canada. We cannot get prazipro. I repeat, Canadians cannot purchase Prazipro. :)

So with that in mind, has anyone used Ruby Rally Pro for flukes with any success? If so, is it as good as Prazipro? Is it worth buying for a QT protocol?

Cheers!

I do not have any faith in Rally Pro being able to handle flukes, it simply is not cut out for that, none of its ingredients are effective against flukes at the dose provided. Your best bet would be hyposalinity at a specific gravity of 1.012 for 30 days. If you opt for 1.009 for 30 days, that will also protect the fish against marine ich. Prazipro is a good reef-safe med, but it is tricky to use properly in order to break the life cycle of egg laying fluke species. The problem is that prazi does not kill fluke eggs. You need to then try to time multiple prazi treatments to break the life cycle (3 to 5 treatments, spaced 5 to 8 days apart).

Copy that. Appreciate the input. I’ve never done hypo salinity in a QT before so I’m hesitant. But I guess if it can be done, I can surely do it. I was going to use a fleece filter with an air stone, I’m presuming evaporation won’t be much of an issue.

Prazi is for flukes and worms while Ruby rally treats an array of issue, but not ich or flukes and Jay stated the rest which i'm in alignment with

Hey,

Juste buy some API general cure

It contains the same active ingredient that is in prazipro.

Though the ingredients are similar - they are not the same medication. I would not substitute general cure. Except for an emergency

I agree they are not the same. But here in Canada, Prazipro is not available. API general cure contains praziquantel at an effective dosage, it is effective against flukes.

Yes - well aware. If the only way to get praziquantel is to use general cure - it can be substituted. The only point was that they are not interchangeable. Thats why I said you can use it in an emergency...

Hypo is pretty easy to do. If you haven’t seen it, here is my post on hyposalinity:
