Hi guys since my brand new noopsyche arrived faulty, i don't have a rump/down option, i can just connect it to a timer plug and let it switch on/off.

Is it really important the ramp up/down part of the day? how much light i should give if i don't have ramp up? Tank is a mixed reef with some easy LPS and softies.

Mainly for aesthetic Purposes. I don’t think the corals or fish will care. You should light you tank with medium (50-150 par) light for at least 8 hours or more.

It's just for you :P

I had a super super complex ramping schedule on my Apex for my Kessils, but I knew it was just fun for me.

Random cloudy days and periods of clouds etc...

I feel it's more for the fish rather than the corals. Kinda freaky to go from full blast to completely dark in a fraction of a second. Usually when my lights turn off suddenly my fish all scatter into their hidey holes. The seem to appreciate the ramp down much better.

luckily they are in a living room, before it goes on lifes start for us so light come in from windows, light, etc. is not really black to extreme light in a split second.

And, how many hours of light should i give, i had a 40min ramp up 40min ramp down with old light, i count them as full light time? i go for 12 of full light or maybe 10/11?

Mine are on from 7:30-7:45 total. I believe I have about an hour ramp up and ramp down time. I also use the moonlight setting that adjusts the brightness to correspond with the phase of the moon

They are from china, it's going to take a while. 1 answer every 24hr and usually with chinese seller ther's plenty of questionable utility question, already tried troubleshooting and general back and forth. Maybe even send it back. And i bought it of aliexpress, so need to go thru aliexpress seller too. I feel is going to take a while. And old lamp is in second new tank so...no alternative

IIRC there is a noopsyche vendor thats US based on this forum.

@Zach B
i am in France :(

I have already got hold of noopshyke that confirmed me it's hardware problem. But need to wait they answer my next question (how do i proceed to get a replacement lamp or component? ...obvious no?) hopefully troday i will get it, then ther's the week end, and then, who know.
