Ran into a problem

Well I ran into a problem. The sump that came with my setup I cracked the glass to where it came into the silicon. Long story short I got another sump but it’s 4inches longer than my stand what can I do?

Wish I could build a new stand it came with the tank. I have the sump I cracked the glass still but I just got another one from my local lfs place and it’s better just 4inches longer could I add something as tall as bottom of stand so it covers those 4 inches and be ok

I think you don’t have much choice here. Probably have to return it and get a smaller one.

Altering the sump so dramatically is a very bad idea. It could fail or leak.

Altering the stand is also a bad idea as it can compromise the integrity.

You most likely can’t alter the stand so the sump fits, you would need to cut out a huge section

The only thing I was going to do was add something to where the tank hangs off so it’s same height I wouldn’t do any cutting. The biggest I can go is like 24in long and 24in wide

Oh, is your stand open in the sides? That changed things maybe. If you are ok with it sticking out I think it would be fine to add a platform to support the extra 4”. Just make sure whatever you build is the exact same height and level so no strange forces impact your sump.

I didn’t realize the stand is open ended. Yes you could build a platform to support it and then cover it somehow

Yeah it’s all open right now was going to make removable doors around the front and sides so kids don’t get into it and leave the back open

I really appreciate it trust me if I didn’t have to drains for my tank I would it’s definitely a custom tank I also have 2 returns

Yeah I didn’t order it unfortunately got it from my local lfs which they are really cool guys even gave me a aquamaxx cone s2 for my sump I mean the original sump doesn’t leak but can’t trust it since the crack went into the silicon of it
