I had a pair that lived with little aggression in a 29 gallon tank for about 5 months. I just moved them into my reefer 450 about a month ago and for the last few weeks the aggression has been pretty bad. Today one of them has its tail shredded and mouth damaged. It didnt eat. The larger has some wounds on the side. Most of the time they are okay with each other but when they start posturing each other it can get nasty. I am not sure if the one with damaged mouth will recover. Its still swimming and I cant get it out of the tank. Will the aggression ever die down? Would adding more cause more issues?

I have two and they never show aggression. My mcneils do, but never the randalls.

I'm guessing it wont subside.

The Mcneils dont cause any damage, so I let them be.

Here is what it looks like. White scraped up lips and chunks of its tale missing. Literally took 39 seconds to happen.

I would not think adding more would help but maybe.

I would separate them or put one in an isolation/acclimation box. Do not add more or the problem could continue. If, after a few days the aggression calms down, then you may try to release him?
