I fed my tank this morning and came back to it about an our later and found one of my B. Anthia dead. Her belly looks bloated but no other visual signs of problems. I am confident it's not from aggression.

I have followed strict Quarantine procedures for all my fish and most of my coral (which I dip and QT). The only sign of possible disease in the tank was I noticed one of her fins looked like it may of had a little "fin rot" last week but it cleared itself up a day or two later.

I have some very disease susceptible fish (Achilles Tang and a range of smaller Anthia) and I have not noticed any other signs of health problems. Except I had a small clown go missing in the last week or two. I had chalked it up to a crab but this has me concerned.

The bloated belly and redness I see near the anus suggests something ruptured internally. My guess is she had a gas bubble in her swim bladder or a swim bladder infection.

Thanks humble. I was hoping to hear that. She did look bloated a couple weeks ago but it resolved itself. (I thought she might have been pregs)

Just curious, any signs of intestinal worms (i.e. white stringy poop)

Humble is probably right though, it could be the fin rot was bacterial and spread internally. Sorry for your loss :(

Performing a necropsy would provide more definitive answers. Check the condition of the bladder and look for any worms inside the intestines.

I was thinking a blockage maybe and was going to ask if you had seen it poop lately. There are a lot of possibilities here. Either way, I don't think it's something you really need to worry about for the other fish assuming they are all healthy.
