Random green polyp when all other corals are not doing well....

Anyone have any idea what this is? It’s kind of green, or I would think Aptasia? But no stem...kind of looks like a zoa but I don’t have any in my tank. It isn’t brown, but not puffy like an acan. Not sure where aptasia would come from. Haven’t added any corals in a LONG time and all get dipped and QT’d.
It shows up when my other corals are all struggling. lol.

Paly. While we grow several varieties intentionally, i would recommend removing it if it is just 1. They have the potential to cause a lot of problems and most people are frustrated with them after 6 months.

It generally is thriving while my other corals sulk because my nutrients are through the roof again.

Test your parameters at your LFS. Might be an eye opener

I know that my nutrients are crazy high. just did a 100 gallon water change yesterday - in the process of a couple more large changes over the next couple weeks. Interesting - never had them before - so no idea where it came from. Are they a nuisance?
What kind of problems do they cause?

They are a fast grower. Research Paly toxin.

But a very real problem happens when people place them at the base of their main rock work and 2 years later the palys have overgrown everything.

Killing 1 paly doesn't release much toxin. Killing 100 can mean hospitalization.
Scrubbing a bunch of them off your rocks is a good way to possibly end up in the hospital.

Bleach is supposed to neutralize the toxin.

We have 100+? Of various types of paly.

The paly were bigger and neater and some have nice colors.

They still exist in our tank because I'm stubborn and lazy.
I always did like them.

But I would discourage you from growing them the same way I discourage freshwater people from starting salt water. [emoji23]

You can grow a lot nicer things that don't have the potential to put you and your family in the hospital. [emoji846]

Those are acans. Just starting to come back. They have been shrunk up for a few days. Recovering.

Good to know! So, two questions:
1. How did it get there? Do they just randomly appear?
2. How do I kill it? Will aptasia x work?

Some random minor particle on your rock or a frag.



Killing just 1 I would use a bit of kalk paste or aptasia X.

Run some carbon. Probably overkill with just 1.

Cover the area with reef putty or gel superglue. Reef putty will likely work 10x better.

Does anyone else think that could be a mojano anemone? I only ask as I have a little group of them (I know they are "pests" but I think they are pretty and i am VERY mindful of them).

Mojano's kind of what I thought as well - some of them are a very attractive green color (not mine, of course . . . ). Does it have little bulbs at the tips of its tentacles, like a tiny BTA? Mojanos don't reproduce as quickly as Aiptasia, but they're still considered pests.

Had these in a tank until 2 became 6 in a few months.
Aptasia-x worked better on these than aptasia.

Still want to do a nano with colorful majano and BCP and GSP. [emoji23] Just terrified of cross contamination with the main tank.
