I saw my nem closed after doing filter maintenance and adding 5GAL of water to replace waste water from filter. Ran my weekly tests again and saw that my phosphate was .30. I’m not quite sure how it happened but yeah.

I keep phosphate reducer on hand from reef results (phosblaster super nuker) and it seems to have done the trick. At 1230 EST, I dosed 10ml and tested again at1530 and it was down to .18ppm. Another half hour later it came down to .10ppm. I’ll test again at 1900EST to see where I’m at.

My GSP wasn’t affected by the swing and was open as usual but my nem just closed up tight. Nem is now open again wide and short tentacles.

That’s odd that the GSP wasn’t affected . GSP is my canary in the coal mine . Anyways 0.1 is good but it’s not good for coral to lower your phosphates fast . I usually don’t lower it more than 0.05 in a 24 hour period til I get to the goal of where I want my numbers to be . Less is more and patience is key . I’m sure it didn’t get that high overnight so take your time bringing it back down . Nems besides higher phosphates , don’t like fast changes . Keep a eye on him .

I don’t quite know how it was so high since I’ve never seen it so high before. Perhaps it was a bad reagent sachet or I did something out of step. I haven’t seen any negative effects from anyone yet.
