There’s this little brownish red crab in my tank that’s fairly shy. He’s smaller than an emerald crab. He was a hitchhiker on a rock from Petco. Said rock also came with three emerald crabs. They’re really bad at checking the rocks (at least at the one I visit) but hey, I’m gaining. That’s way beside the point, though. He has two different sized claws, but not by a large difference. The ends of his claws are the sharp, whitish ends (like you’d see on a red crab or something) not dull like an emerald crabs legs. He hasn’t harmed anything and I’ve only seen him a sparse few times, any help identifying him would be very appreciated. If I can ever get a picture, I’ll attach it. Kinda fuzzy. Edit: possible trick of light, but he turned and claws look same size now.

from responses I have seen to posts like this, if the claws are sharp its probably not a crab you want in you tank. Especially when it gets bigger. Some people catch them and put them in the sump (if you have one). You can make traps out of water bottles or some people sell 3D printed ones on this forum. I don't have experience with trying to catch an unwanted crab, but that is my .002 from reading threads on whether you should leave it in there or not. If nothing else, it will bump your post an hopefully get you a response from someone with more experience. :)

Guessing emerald or mithrax. Need pics tho.

Put wrong word, meant to say legs. Claws don’t look sharp.
