I’ve been using it as my alk supplement for a couple months with great success. Turns out, not surprisingly, that it also works great to vaporize aiptasia! I have little success when injecting saturated kalk solution, but the lye completely disintegrates them.

Yep. Make a slurry with sodium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide and it cocoons and burns that alien menace, sorry wrong film

I’m also using it to eradicate nuisance rhodactis that have been multiplying unchecked. I tried injecting with kalk, but they would just shrivel up then split in two. Now I inject with lye and they peel off the rock the next day.

I’ve convinced myself F-Aiptasia is just calcium hydroxide powder (kalk) mixed with sodium hydroxide (lye). I work with sodium hydroxide at work, it’s safe until you take liberties with common sense.
