can i use dowflake xtra 83-87% in place of dowflake 77-80% as i cannot find this product in atlantic canada thanks

Yes, it should be Ok as long as you do some regular water changes.

Dow made a different change a number of years ago where they left more bromide in the product than when I analyzed Dowflake, but as long as you do some water changes, that should be of limited concern.
