Can a strong smell of chemicals air born in non vent room. Can it give you a copper reading in water testing. I know it can kill coral especially sps. ? Any articles about chemical outside the tank .

I don't think there is any smell from a true gas that you could encounter would contain copper. "Smells" do not normally contain ionic metals since they do not evaporate.

If you took a copper solution and somehow made droplets (like putting an airstone in it), that could get airborne, but seems somewhat unlikely in normal circumstances.

That said, many toxic things might be smelly, and they might be a lot more toxic to one organisms than another.

Do you have a particular chemical product that you are concerned about?

When I spray painted my door. Near fish tank in basement. A few days lost few frags and lost one of my strawberry colony's. I tested water par everything stable. No change in Alk and cal but didn't test Ph. What about a acrylic glue smell. Can toxin go airborne kill coral?

I don't see any especially bad chemicals on the MSDS for that material, but they don't need to list minor ingredients, and enough of even the major ones might be problematic.

Sorry to hear you had this problem. :(

Can chemicals cause a drop or raise in PH and not have toxins in the water. Because I have never lost SPS until I spray painted the door. The only thing I didn't check was the Ph. Thanks

Not sure I understand the question.

Something can raise or lower pH and not be toxic, if that is the question.

I certainly don't doubt the possibility that the paint caused the prolbems. I've heard of several cases where painting or floor finishing damaged a reef tank.
