Im still dosing 10ml/day of flourish nitrogen to raise my nitrate level to help lower down my phosphate level and running an dyi algae scrubber... hoping to get the hair algae growth to a halt. Hoping to get a 5ppm nitrate and less than .05ppm on phosphate... is there anything else im missing to get rid of the hair algae and red cyano on my sand?

There are many ways to reduce phosphate and cyano, but what you are doing seems a reasonable approach. :)

Watch out dosing your no3. It will catch up and you don't want to over shoot your number.
Not the cyano if of a different situation.
Do you run di?

I only have RO right now... i am ordering the mixed resin cartridge next week to add to my RO water system... last dose was 2 days ago of 10ml... need to test tonight when light is off...m

Thanks Randy.. just want to make sure that i am on the right path and dont want to add more stress to the problem.

tons of knowledge here!

care when dosing nitrate with cyano. cyano takes up a ton of nitrate and i have heard when they die they release it back in to the system.

while i have witnessed a severe uptake in no3 from cyano's presence. i have not witnessed it's death dumping it back in to the column because i manually removed.

i would take care of your cyano issue first with chemiclean as your nutrient uptake will be skewed by your bacterial friend.
