These used to be kinda common. I still have old recipes that call for Dow Flake and washing soda and MagFlake for magnesium. A couple years ago some of the companies released warnings that the purity was going to be an issue for those wanting to continue using their products in this way.
I'd spend the extra money and get something with higher grading standards intended for reef use.

I wouldn't chance it. The 77-80% pure is a warning!
Just spend the extra money and purchase from BRS, if that is too expensive then start looking at a calcium reactor as they will be cheaper to operate in the long run.

You want to use the anhydrous calcium chloride from the pool store. It's marketed as "Hardness Plus". I believe that's a higher purity. I've used it before without any problem whatsoever. In fact that's when my tanks looked the nicest. I'm sure that's completely unrelated though!

77-80% is the standard for calcium chloride dihydrate (2 water molecules)
the anahydrous (no water) get up to 94%+. FWIW I got a 25 pound bag of from a local redi mix company. Brand name something like cal-chlor. $8-$10 for 25 pounds. It chemically is equilivant to kent turbo calcium. due to the higher calcium content you probably should adjust the mixing accordingly which mean use less of the 94% stuff.
In an aquarium balanced out with macro algaes, with low or no nitrates and phosphates, either of these should work. and they probably would work even if all that isn't true. but a mature balanced out tank is more stable.
The really hard thing to find is the magnesium chloride.

That's why i switched to food grade (wage's pickling lime) or pharmaceutical grade (brs).

the warining was a production method left a small amount of ammonia in the salt.
which was considered bad for salt mixes.
But in our tanks dosing small amounts that small amoung of ammonia is easily handled by the bacteria and algae (even the corraline).
