Can rapid tissue recession start from the center? I have a few Hammers that exibit this while the others are fine . I don't know what to make of it. Shouldn't all my Hammer suffer at the same time. I'm a bit confused about this. Parameters are ok , gravity 1.025 , i've stop supplementing my Ultramins to my sponges and sea fan just in case , I have an urchins that seem to have spawned into the tank the water was all milky, but from what i've heard from others who had them it didn't unbalanced their tank. I've diped the affected hamers in case its a parasite. Changed my carbon in case of toxin, nothing has died . I'm on my second water change now. Any ideas as what it could be and what else should be done. Thanks for your time.

The tissues can break down in any area at any time. I've had mine recently die, doing the same thing, for no apparant reason also.

Found an interesting answer in two different place ;

Re: Rapid tissue recession
Same here. I went to an LFS after getting frustrated and spoke to the owner. Real knowledgeable guy. Said to use Seachem's Reef Strontium. I explained I didn't have a kit to measure and was reluctant. He said to use 1/3 the dose twice a week...and basically there would be no worries.

I never looked back. I swear that saved my torch coral.

Then;

Jason Wong ; I don't dose much, nor am even close to beeing a knowledgable person on the subject, BUT - I do add Stronium\Molybneum by Kent's , about a quarter to half ounce every second week or so.. seems to make my torch\hammers\octospwn\frogspwns reall happy, and my zoos more compact togheter (not more to the ground, that's lights job. ) that is all I noticed and can share - I have no test for this.

So there you have it ! Its a lead.....
