I was emailed some information about this amazing fish. It's a super rare red mandarin dragonette that was recently collected. There's not a whole lot of information on it, other than it is said to be an albino...which makes sense because albinism just means it's lacking dark pigmentation due to a lack in melanin.

yeah, they emailed me the week prior to their posting on fb and shared with me a little teaser (poor quality) video of the fish. as soon as i saw the video, i was dying to get a better pictures. i asked james for better pictures, and he sent one (see above). but as soon as i got this pic they had already put in on fb.

i also tried to get james to tell me who they sold it to (and how much), but he's staying quiet it seems. but...he did promise more pictures from the lucky person who bought the fish. so we'll see how it turns out.

I was looking for one of these two years ago. Came across this photo http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn185/jr099/tank/TankMarch16036.jpg Was asking around my local forum and they said they had seen some up in L.A., but another member said they were selling them at one of my lfs for $60 and they came from QM and were MAC certified. I've tried to get one since and haven't been able to.

With the claim that its an albino, there NEEDS to be better photos provided. From this poor photo, I refute that claim, and am disappointed at this unfoundedly bolstered claim (not by Aquanerd, but by whoever said it to be in the first place). Albinism is a specific trait, as mentioned, where all melanin is absent. Neat color, but hyped, inaccurate misinformation may have struck again.

Yeah, that photo looks photoshopped at worst or poorly balanced at best. I'm not so sure that is an albino either. Kray, can you fiddle with the photo like you did on that other red fish thread a month or so ago?

i completely agree...that's why i've been hounding sdc for a better picture. they're the ones who said it was albino, so i was just relaying that information...with some reservation.

i know the picture seems hard to believe, but there's also a video...even though it's a short video with poor quality. i'll see if i can find it.
