I will soon be fragging my rasta leather and wanted to make sure I had the steps right.

1. Take the leather out of the tank and put it into a separate container.
2. Snip off pieces
3. Glue pieces to frag plugs
4. Put back into tank

Should I do a coral dip, iodine dip, or freshwater dip after fragging?

You can’t glue softies to frag plugs.
Elastic bands or putting cuts in a basket with substrate and it will attach itself.
Once some substrate sticks, then you can glue it.
You can dip if you want but not necessary.

Got it. Forgot about that. I will use rubber bands

Rubber bands puts a lot tension on leathers easy to rip through. I like low flow and sit on rubble.

What kind of rubble and where can I get it?
if you have dry rock laying around anywhere, or a small rock from your display - you can break apart and use that as rubble. there are some vendors that do sell “rubble”, and thicker sand too

I’ve tried rubber bands, toothpick through the base that was rubber banded to a plug but the only thing that worked was putting it in a container with low flow and rock rubble. Might want to toss some carbon in the tank after you frag it.

I don't have anything that could be used as rock rubble. Where could I buy that and the basket?

I wrap softy frags with fishing line sometimes to hold them To plugs. A dab of glue on the line to keep it from unraveling and not tied too tight to cut the coral flesh. Razor blade or nail clippers to cut the line off in a week or 2 when it’s attached

How long do they normally take to attach? I was thinking of fragging mine and putting a basket of rubble in the return of the sump with a small light if it is only a short time.
