For a few days now my Rasta frags have been closed.
What do you think normally caused this for Rastas?
I have a SB Reef lights over them. Could it be too much or too little light?
I have two random flow returns plus an Icecap Gyre in this tank (Fusion lagoon 25)
I think I have the Gyre set at 6 seconds on and 4 or 6 secs off.
Any thoughts is appreciated - Thank you

It doesn't look like you other zoanthids are opening up either. If you suspect too much flow, I would decrease the flow on the Grye.

What are your tank params?

Using Kent Marine mix and RO water.
Looks like Amm, nitrate and Mag is up.

Specific Gravity 1.025
Temp 78'f
pH 8.0
Amm 0.25 (API kit)
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20
kH 7.7
dKh (Hanna) 7.8
Phos (Hanna) 0.12 then 0.09
Calcium 450
Mag 1470

This is a Fusion Lagoon 25, should I do a 25-50% water change today?
Thank you

I also just checked the PAR with a Seneye and it's was only 20 PAR, Hmmm
Would that cause problems? I raised it to 80 for now.

Bump - update.
Still not opening.
I did 33% water change and turned off the Gyre pump.

Any advice is welcomed

Thank you

Rastas are pretty easy growers. Do you have any coral RX dips or something similar?Maybe you inherited a hitch hiker that is disturbing the rastas. Give it a quick RX bath and see if any pests come out of them.

I had red hornets that closed for weeks and i thought I almost lost them. My alk (7.2) and Magnesium (1200) was low and I raised it up to 8.5 alk and 1400 Mag. I also lowered the rastas to the lower part of my tank and it opened up nicely. My rastas are low in my tank as well. I am running 6 T5s.

I hope this helps.

UPDATE:
I did my usual RX Pro dip when I got these in a month ago. I did not see any pest at that time.
I did check on them at 4AM last night and saw a Large Banded Trochus Snail on top of each frag.
Maybe the snails are making them stay closed?
This is my frag tank, I can move the snails to another take.

Again thank you for any and all advice.

Amm 0.25 (API kit)

From my on QT experiences and observations. 0.25 ppm ammonia will cause zoa's to close up. A good amount of your collection is also closed up. If this was my tank, this would be the very first thing I fix.

Trying to make sense of my API Test kit - see photo below
Also it looks like my Seachem Ammonia Alert is OK.
I have increased my surface movement.
I also have an AquaMaxx 1.5 HOB skimmer on this tank.
Anything else I should be doing?
THANK YOU
