Rayns 120 in wall basement plus other tanks build!

Well the clowns are to big to get eaten. But the little buggers always attack me when I get in the tank.

That's because their Damsels..... you deserve it for buying Damsels.

You need to start stocking now if you want to maintain the biofilter. Without an ammonia source, you're rolling back the hands of time.

Yes, they're damsels. But...but...but... I got nothing.

I can drop rabbit in there, but as I said the wasp and yellow spot aren't through QT. Though I don't see anything wrong at this point, it hasn't even been close to time yet.

After owning it for 2.5 years and going through now two builds, I finally plumbed it in and fired it up! So far liking the results, much less to scrape off the glass tonight. Though I'm not sure that is a direct result.

Even better results after running for a couple days now. Glass has very little on it now to clean which is a plus.

I added my rabbit fish in last night to help nibble on the uglies of the tank as well. After a short acclimation to the new tank he went right to work.

Two barred rabbit fish!!! He has completely stripped my tank of any bit of hair algae that was forming. I had the one center stack of rocks that were starting to get some evidence of HA and he stripped it down to nothing. This guy is a pig.

I know, I need to start running a reactor or something to bring phosphates down. I finally added a skimmer last night. It is undersized for the tank, but until I get my pump for the big skimmer it will have to do.

I finally settled on a pump for the skimmer. Vectra m1. Now I just need to get it hooked up. The little skimmer I got is way underrated for this tank and working overtime. I clean the cup twice a day and still can't keep up with it.

So disaster strikes, and this is twofold.

For some unknown reason my heater was set to off on my apex, I can't remember setting it there tho. Overnight tank went down to 67 degrees from 80. Woke up to a bazillion texts and emails I didn't hear. I did finally figure it out after I got to work and turned it on, so now the tank is slowly heating up. The lights are also helping in that department.

Second, the new pump I got for my skimmer overflowed the skimmer. It's external. Yeah, 10 odd gallons on the floor and I'm not home. Only way I figured it out was to get the in laws to go check if I still had power after all the apex texts. Had power, but water all over the floor and didn't know why.

Wife went home and I walked her through it and figured out it was the pump, skimmer, and overflow bucket. This means the sump is almost dry, so I had her unplug the return pump to keep it from running dry. Luckily there are two mp40 running to keep water movement still

Wonder what I'll go home to tonight?

Oh Dude, that sucks!!!! I had my tank plummet to 55 one time. When I was at work one night, a cold front blew in and swung open my patio door. All the corals were a big mucous mess, but they survived.

Yikes man! Sorry to hear about the overflow! Especially after all that great work you've been doing down in the basement... I really miss having a basement.

On another note, it's great to see you on R2R! Long time, bro! I'll be watching your thread, and I hope everything works out well for ya'!

::fingers crossed for ya':: /Leo

So I got home and the tank "looks" okay. Gonna redo some plumbing and see if I can't fix my issue now.

Good to hear from ya flip! Long time. You got a build thread here?

It is getting there. Worse possible way to do what ended up a 20 gallon water change

I tracked the issue down and it's all die to me trying to use a vectra m1 for my skimmer pump. External skimmer with a waste bucket. Somehow the pump pushed enough water through it to make a mess.

This was all discovered by the apex sending me notifications about the temp of all things! Apex more then paid for itself today.

Okay after a disaster in the tank due to algae, I am tearing this tank down. Gonna rebuild again hopefully better then ever.
