Looking for ideas for temporary housing of captured splits and other rbta. I have a nice acclimatization box, but the slits are a bit too wide, the tentacles are able to poke through, then they try to smoosh the rest along and get a bit stuck. So thats not good. I am using a small hatchery, like a pets island one, but its sorta small. It works great because the slits are small and they cant get through. I have probably 15 or so bigger rbta in my 120, so when one climbs an overflow or some other easy removal position, i need something to house them in.
My nicer box is a acrylic, slide top, i would say typical nice quality box, sized like 8 x 6 x 6 or so?

Any thoughts or ideas? Get a bigger hatchery thing, or try to modify my current nicer box to tighten up the slits, or some other options?? Housing would be from a day to a week or two.
Thanks so much for your time
Joel

Current slots of my bigger box is 1/4 inch, breeder thing is 2mm

@cromag27, the shu looks very nice, but thinking the slots might be a similar size as my current one? (the one they try to escape from)
Exactly who I was gonna tag. He can make anything to accommodate your needs.

The medium is the same as the one i have now. Could try the large.... Shows 2mm slits

Ugg, 60 minute edit..... Feel like I'm taking to myself, lol
Ordered the large for Amazon, still open to other options too

I have one we refer to as "Komi" as in Kamikaze. This is one of the splits (baby) from my 10 year old BTAs. This guy has tried to do himself in by climbing into an overflow (we found tank cloudy and white one morning) pulled him out put him in our "penalty box" (acclimation box) to recover. After a month of rehab, released him into tank only to find him on the verge of getting ground to pieces in a powerhead - back to the penalty box for more rehab. He's since tried the powerhead assisted suicide but was unsuccessful because it had nem guards but he's rearranged a return nozzle, attempted to cook himself on a heater and literally tortured any small frags I own. Finally moved him to our 65 gal tank where our 2 gold nugget clowns took to him and hound him 24/7 on his own rock. He's been there 4 mos now and has doubled in size and actually resembles a bta (vs the blob of deformed tenacles he looked like previously)

These boxes work but as with all nems you must watch them... For the most part the majority of mine stay put, but there's always one exception and yes - you have to stay alert because they WILL find their way into trouble. Never a dull moment...

Lol, crazy story.
I have a few, but they are usually well behaved. That's a 4ft 120,

Get a plastic strainer (the kind you would use to rinse fruit or pasta) epoxy some stryofoam cubes to the rim so it floats. Cheap an effective for something temporary and they come in many sizes.

boom.

seems the slots are 1/4" or so, have had issues with that size already with them trying to squeeze through, or at least 1 time, turned into a big pita
ordered a 10x5x5 with 2mm slots, will be here wednesday,

excellent, thank you for the information, the Shu looks very nice

just remeasured, 1/8th is the size of my bigger acclimation box, not 1/4.
12x6x6 with 1/8" slots, is what i have already, and had issues with their foot before, might have been a 1 time deal, but seems my box is similar.
