RBTA ate a chromis

Caught my RBTA spitting out what it didn't want anymore from a blue green chromis. I suspect the chromis went there to hide from the other bullying chromis but I can't be sure. Gold nugget maroon clown could have gotten him too...

That's what they are supposed to do. They capture and digest food particles from the water column. If the Chromis died the clown may have brought the carcass to the nem for processing. It looks like it wasn't very hungry or else the Chromis didn't taste that good?

I wish I could have seen that although I'm still thrilled to have seen this part at all. I have heard that carpet anemones and others were known for eating fish but I never knew RBTA would eat fish.

The stinging level of a BTA is far less than most other Anemones. It is very unlikely a healthy fish was eaten by a BTA. Most likely was dead or dying when it encountered the BTA. Unlike carpets and other similar anemones, BTAs primary food source is light, particles in the water, and waste excreted by clownfish. They just arent fish killers. I will dig around my old phone and try to find the pictures i have of my Flame Angel in my large 12inch BTA, aswell as a video of me feeding my 4 BTAs a cube of mysis which caused a frenzy of fish such as royal grammas, tangs, and angels swarming into the anemones to take the food from it.
