I have a rose anem that has gotten very big! Is there a way to make it split or split it? Any advice is helpful! Thanks

You can encourage a split by alot of feeding or water changes.

However,I have the feeling your RBTa is female, and will not split as often, give them time, females grow very large and do not split as often as males do.

Thanks, i have a 45 cube and it is starting to kill some corals as it seems to get bigger everyday. It stays in one spot and dont move but also am out of room to move things away! It is about 10 inches or bigger now. I stopped feeding hoping it wouldnt grow but is still growing!

Hey,Im going to say it now,do not risk cutting it,its very large, the larger they are,the harder they are to cut, plase DO NOT CUT IT.

Thanks

Try a large needle with a long piece of mono filament fishing line that will fit the needle.
Push the needle in the center of the foot close to the rock.
Thread the mono with the needle on through and out the other side.
Pull enough line through to tie around over the top leaving enough to work with.
Just tie the line through one time making a cinch of sorts, pull the ends closing the loop while guiding it over the mouth center and cutting the nem in the process.
Should go smoothly in one quick least stress for all involved motion.

Good luck!
Let us know how it works out.

Not to sound rude, but who told you it is safe to do that? That is very risky, and its very hard on the anemone when you poke a hole in its foot.

Im just saying, you can take my advice or leave it,but I really think you should feed more often or do a large water change to encourage a split.

Didn't mean to imply it was sound advise to cut the nem.
I simply added my .02 on a method other than was being suggested.

I should have added that "I would not cut it". I would use the method
I suggested if I just had to try it.

OK Guys, I guess i should of looked at this before i made my decision! I talked with a reefer freind and decided to cut it! I had to tear my tank apart to do so and was a big mess! I should of just left it as now it will never be the same. :( So he is in half in a bowl on the side of the tank! Im not sure if he will make it or not! He dont look to good at the time. We will see how he does in a few days. Thanks for all the advice on the forum and i will keep you posted on if it worked or not. If it dont i will be in need of a new anem for my clowns as they are really pisted at me right now!

He should be fine....The problem now is having him stay where you want him too. ;)

They havnt moved yet! They are just sittin in the bowl in the tank! He had been in the same place for months tho and would be nice for one to go back there!

give it a couple of days they will move. you won't move much if your foot got cut. lol I hope it does go back to that spot. if not you will be moving corals around.

yea give them some time to heal befor you make the jump that they are going to die.... alot of light since you cant supplement feed them just keep an eye on the mouth to see if tissue is growing on the other side...

So they actually look really good today. Opened right up this morning and even moved out of the bowl. Someone told me that I shouldn't let the clowns in them right away; is there any risk of doing this with them just being cut?
