I’m planning on re-scaping my tank this weekend and wanted any advice or tips I can get. The tank is a 32g biocube with about 6 corals, 2 clown fish, cleaner shrimp and peppermint shrimp.

Right now the rocks are just sitting atop one another with nothing binding them together. I came downstairs to a rock toppled over the other day. I just bought some acrylic rods and plan on drilling some holes to insert them.

Really want to be able to do it with minimal trauma to my livestock and could use and help you guys have to offer.

Are you opposed to using any kinds of glue or epoxy? There are safe ones to use underwater and such. I have heard of many people drilling holes into their live rock and then tie them together with fishing line. This is usually done when the live rock is an odd shape or want to build something kooky.

I noticed that the rock work is kind of high in the tank. That will pose problems down the road for some corals depending on what kind you want to keep.

I had some success with my scape using poly glue from aqua forest. It claims to work under water but I haven't tested it as my tank was empty.

the only thing about this epoxy is I don't think Coraline algae will grow on top of it and it might stick out like an eyesore unless you wedge it deep between the rocks or cover it with a small rock.

Take some time to read this great post: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/tips-and-tricks-on-creating-amazing-aquascapes.97209/

We tend to appreciate beauty when structures are proportional but not symmetrical, so look to keep the middle of your structures "off center." The most pleasing proportion is 5::3. Picture your tank in 8 equal sections and then build to "fill" those sections both horizontally and vertically. Also remember that as your reef matures only the most fundamental shapes will be noticeable as the corals fill in.

What I have found quite challenging are the posts on color in the above link but also fun to search out the corals I need to create pleasing aquascape. Happy reefing ;Bookworm
