I have an established 50 gal reef that’s approximately 5 years old. I have roughly 35-40lbs of Rock now in the tank(5 yes old also). One of my structures is a huge solid rock (10-15lbs) that I want to remove an replace with 15-20 lbs of dry reef saver(more surface area, an I want more caves an area for coral). My question is how do I go about swapping the rock without “crashing” “ an not starting a cycling with what I have done already. Thank you everyone

You seem to be removing only half the rock, so add a bottle of Fritz 9 when adding rock, should be fine.
Lower food (if possible) for a week......put in ammonia bage and just watch.
Have some water ready if ammonia rises....
New sand

If your looking for surface area, you can’t beat Marine Pure blocks.

As long as you try not to stir up sandbed (if you have one) should be okay. As stated, just swap out (no shaking or rinsing in tank) and monitor. You can add some bacteria as it will not harm anything. Should be fine since you have a good amount of live rock staying in the tank.
Do you have a sump? You can put the rock in the sump and let it liven up a bit then switch to main tank. I do this a lot.
