I'm thinking about re-aquascaping my 75g tank. I'm worried about the fish/crabs/snails/coral when i start moving things about. Is this a bad idea? Has anyone done this before? If you have how did you do it.

Main reason for the rearrangement is to increase the mid-level of rock. I feel like it's mainly top or bottom right now.

Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Done it many many times and no problems unless u smash corals or fish in the process. If its sand ur stirring up it'll settle. If its detritus then it'll get exported long as u keep system running.

I would also plan on a large water change with it to suck up any detritus stirred up and a waste bucket to swish around the rocks in to clean them up.

I would try not to stir the bed up unless you had a freind over waiting to suck up the powder from the bed. Remember there was never that much crap in the water column ever!, and now you are doing just that. Go very slow moving rocks around and good luck... My 2 bullets worth...

I don't think his tank is old enough to have a lot of detritus or sand issues. You will be fine, but like we discussed at the last meeting. It's best to get a large plastic tote and fill it with some new saltwater. add a pump and a heater, so you can remove corals and rock into the totes and space them out so they dont crush each other. And then you can take your time and not feel rushed. You can leave the fish in the tank, just be mindful of them as you replace the rock.

Good Luck!
