Is it safe to re-freeze frozen fish food that was either partially or completely defrosted? Food is in its original container. The food was kept cold.

yes. I forgot some frozen food and left in car for a while, it was fine.

So what is the verdict on refreezing frozen food? I have always thought it should not be done?

The verdict is you don't. Freezing is a destructive processes, and it's the chief thing keeping the dead food from rotting. Thawing and refreezing not only allows the food to start rotting, but freezing it again destroys the foods physical properties by the formation of ice crystals.

Thaw what you're going to feed for 1-2 days in a small cup in the fridge, feed it before the 3 days mark so it stays fresh, and thaw more as needed. Refreezing is bad for a myriad of reasons. Even for our foods.
