Guys, I am having a little problem with one of my fish, he is just becoming way too aggressive against its tank mates. When I got him he was okay, but now he is just getting out of control. Is there any place where they will take him? I want to make sure he will be taken care of! I am scared to just leave him anywhere where they are not going to take care of him as well as I am! Please ideas. The fish is an arc eye hawkfish :(. He keeps attacking my goby and his pistol shrimp.

Sorry about your problem, arc eye hawkfish get large & will eat or kill anything they think they can eat. Ask one of your LFS & ask them if they will take him. Was he in the tank before or after the goby or shrimp?

Drop the water down 50% or so, and hope for the best! I am awful with fish-traps
Oh man I just added new water because I had to do a water change

Hi, I know, it sucks because I was reading all over the internet and it says that he was going to grow between 2.5 to 3 inches! What a lie!! I went to the LFS on Friday to buy the goby and the guy told me that he was going to get at least 8”, I am so upset because I love him :( so yes he was before the goby and the shrimp.

Removing/replacing 15g of water is easy! I should probably do 10g weekly, but usually do about 25!

I always look it up on LiveAquaria and read the description. I have found it to be very useful in deciding what to purchase. Although sometimes passive fish are aggressive and aggressive fish sometimes adapt to a community.

It’s ok, just take him back, maybe they’ll give you credit for him. I know, most of us have done it at one time or another, but before you give in to temptation, study the animal first or ask your questions here. It’ll say problems in the long run. Also, tell the person that’s helping you what you have in your tank first, if they’re reputable, they should be able to tell you what’s compatible or not, good luck

29 gallons, but he is sooo fast and he loves to hide under the rocks when scared.

Fish traps and patience are the best method and remember that a hungry fish is a gullible fish. With a Hawkfish what I would do is make a home-made trap out of something like an empty Aquafina or Dasani water bottle. Cut off the top and wipe out the bottle so it is totally dry, then fold the top part in to make a narrow funnel that the fish can get through. Weigh the bottle down with some rock rubble/substrate. Put the bottle in standing vertically (harder for the fish to escape and easier for you to grab it) on the bottom of your tank with some of the Hawkfish's favorite pellet food in there and simply wait for the fish to get curious enough to go in after the food and don't feed anything else. I used this very method to successfully trap and remove an aggressive Flame Angel and an Aggressive Red Head Salon Fairy Wrasse. Just be aware it can take a few days for this to work, so be patient. Much less stressful on you and all the fish in your tank than tearing apart the rockwork and chasing down a quick fish though.

The best way I found to catch fish is during lights out when they are in zombie mood you have a little time then before they realize what’s going on. Now you obviously don’t want to leave him in a bag or something the rest of the night so I suggest a small critter habitat you can place in the tank I’ll add a picture you I would put the fish in the box and leave it submerged in the tank

If you look around you’ll find some specifically made for fish tanks but cost a little more it’s just a way of taking the fish out of the tank without taking it out of the tank if that makes any sense
