re-introducing siphoned live sand back into the aquarium?

with my OCD when the dyano-flagellates strings accumulate my tank bed I keep siphoning them out into a filter bag and of course a lot of sand goes with it. I collected all this live sand in the large filter bag and I'm wondering, can I re-introduce that live sand back into the aquarium? I.e. will the dyno flagellates die since they've been outside of the tank and in a dry environment?

If the sand dried out, the sand might not be live or for that matter who knows in what condition after being allowed to rot and then dry. Buy new sand for replacement.

I’d just rinse it off and throw it back in. I don’t even know if you can buy new sand and if you can it would be really expensive.
