Hey yall. First time/long time
For a while now several of my fish have been displaying parasitized behavior; My chalk bass Blinky sadly being the most victimized. He’s constantly scratching his gills against glass, rocks, sand- whatever. At all times of the day. My firefish Poptart is afflicted as well by the itches, but only displays at night and against the sandbed. Poptart’s also displayed some white spots at times, but never for more than a day or two and only a couple times has it ever happened. The rest of my fish seem unaffected by much else, although they’ve all presented with itching as well, but to a much lesser degree.
I’ve finally decided to man up and be a responsible fish-husband and treat this issue before it’s too late. My plan is to remove all my fish from the display tank and move them to 2 separate tanks set up for medicating. I’ve done my homework and lurked the board, would just like some feedback as to whether my plan is feasible and just need a couple queries answered from you fine folk. Appreciations
Fish List:
Spotted mandarin
Lunate fairy wrasse
Yellow watchman goby
Chalk bass
Helfrichi firefish
Blue/Green chromis
Flurry clownfish
Rough outline of steps:
1. Dust off the ol’ 29gallon. Begin cycle, be sure to add lots of rocks, rubble and hiding spots n what not. heater and powerhead, possibly a golfball of chaeto,
2. Remove all 7 fish from DT.
3. Use a spare 10 gal i have lying around as my chloroquine tank.
Place fish and dose chloroquine accordingly. Use seachem prime daily for elimination of ammonia. House fish for 10 days.
Remove fish from Chloro tank.
4. Place fish in cycled 29g.
Dose prazipro. Make sure surface water is agitated to promote oxygen exchange.
Let them chill there until 78 day fallow period is over.

Questions:
can i use rock from my dt to seed biofiltration to my 29gallon tank? Will that introduce parasites; and if so will i have to have a 78 day fallow period in my qt?
Will a 10 gallon tank be sufficient size for 7 medium to small sized fish for 10 days of chloroquine (and prime for ammonia) dosing? It’s the only other spare tank i have. After the 10 day period they’d be transferred to the 29gal
Will my mandarin be okay in a QT for the entire fallow period in regards to food? Can i seed my QT with pod-rich rock rubble (and/or chaeto) from my dt consistently to supplement his consumption?
Should i consider any other treatment to add to the regime while i’m at it? Any problems that may arise? Holes in my game?
PS: Was also considering using this time in QT for my mandarin to train him on frozens. Good plan?
