Just moved into another house after selling my old one. Had to move out the old house and wait for a couple months to move into the new one. So of course the tank came down. My question is how do I prepare the rock for the new tank? Currently the rocks have been sitting in the garage in buckets of salt water dying. I know this was not a good idea. But what should I do with the rocks to get them prepared for my new tank setup? Its about 100lbs of rock.

That must be stinky by now

Get them in trash cans with saltwater and a strong pump for circulation.
Also if you have a skimmer try to set your skimmer somehow on the rock for the right dept the skimmer is rated for and turn it on in order to get the phosphate out of your rock with all the trash that can give you later on problems.
In this case you will cycle your rock again slowly and mean while build up your tank with plumbing, lights, sump etc etc.
During this time you also can figure out how or what kind of cool aquascape you can bring in this time.
Good luck!

See if the [HASHTAG]#reefsquad[/HASHTAG] has something to add to this.

If you're really concerned and there has been a lot of die off while it was in the buckets, you could give them a vinegar bath to kill off what's left. Let them soak for a couple days in a strong vinegar solution, then rinse well, and then proceed curing them as instructed above. The longer you can let them cure the better in my opnion. This process may/should also shorten your cycle time once you put it in the tank.
