I'm sure there has been several threads on Reactors and Bio Pellets. Can anyone please point me in the right direction. I'm looking for some good advise on set up and equipment. I'm not interested in the cheap easy route, I don't mind spending the extra money on a nice reactor. I believe in buy once, buy right. Thanks in advance for any help.

The new lines of biopellet reactors are really nice. I like the Reef Octopus brand. make sure you place them right. you need a really good protein skimmer for any carbon dosing to prevent bacterial bloom. for biopellets, make sure you point the output of the biopellet reactor towards your skimmer to skim out excess bacterias produced by the reactor, or you will get bacterial bloom and see bacterial films form on your aquarium.

The SWC 80 is more than enough of a reactor for my 76 gallon, and works well until the pellets get depleted and start to clog the end plates. I'm about to switch over to Dr. Tim's pellets, have read good things about them and like the fact they are round rather than barrel shaped.

I run a reef octopus on my system and love it. I have only tried one other reactor and that was a tlf150 so no comparison there. +1 on buy once buy right, I've waisted a lot of money not following that rule lol.

I just got one of the new reef dynamic reactors, they are awesome! They are set up like an external skimmer. You can regulate the internal flow to get the tumble rate you want while still able to set how much water goes through the reactor independently. I've only had it for a week and will never go back to standard reactors.

Your gonna love it Justin, After having many other reactors the RD has been keeping my Po4 so low i don't even have to clean my glass but once a week if at all! And the Quality of this Reactor is just Awesome, Thanks Jeff for a great Product!!

Thanks for the quick responce and great information. So I got 2 positives on the reef octopus and 2 for reef dynamics. I guess I should have listed I have a 50 gal cube mixed reef, mostly sps w/ 20 gal sump. I have a refugium chamber, but I just filled it with extra live rock. Ecotech Radion for lights and 2 MP10w for flow. I feel like I'm on the right track to having a nice system and I'm looking forward to setting up a new reactor soon. I've also noticed several different pellets as well. Looks like I got some research to do.

I run a SRO reactor and works well. The recirculating design sounds awesome though. Ecobak FTW.

I also like the AVAST line of reactors. They are very well made.
