Fish tank thieves arrested during motorcycle getaway: cops

The Niles police Facebook page saysthe passenger jumped off, breaking the aquarium, when the officer turned to follow the motorcycle Monday.

Another officer found the bike at another location and a “nervous-looking” man pruning a tree with his bare hands behind a home. He was identified as the bike’s operator.

Niles Municipal Court officials say 52-year-old Mitchell Adkins and 46-year-old Christopher Binion have pleaded not guilty to theft charges. Binion also pleaded not guilty to traffic charges.

The public defender assigned to represent the men declined to comment.

Not so long ago someone posted a video of a guy stealing coral out of a shop and putting it in a carrier bag !!! I wonder if that was one of these guys !!!

There was a guy here in Vermont about ten years ago who stole clown fish from a LFS. In his defense he was saving them sure death since the LFS was a pretty bad store. He had pleaded with the store to do maintenance for them, etc, etc. He had his own local clown fish breeding setup and coral systems in his basement. He did community service and the LFS finally shut down.

They aren't aquarium hobbyists.... They were hoping to sell the tank on Craigslist for HEROIN money

HEROIN thieves stole all my Christmas displays off my front lawn two years ago at 3am for heroin money.

My neighbor a few houses down had a stainless steel grill stolen off his back porch by heroin thieves.... and we live in a quiet upper middle class HOA neighborhood.

Our entire neighborhood knows that if it's not locked down outside your house it'll be stolen for drug$ in 1-3mos

You see a guy circling your neighborhood in a rusted out truck on TrashNite to trash pick....he also is CASING YOUR PLACE for stuff to steal for drug$ in 50% of the cases....or TIPOFF friends who are heroin addicts

. That guy on the back is lucky he didn't fall off with that big box and nothing to hold on to.

When I was a teenager, 25 yrs ago, I used to know a kid that would go into pet stores and steal all types of chameleons right out of the tanks. Never got caught either. He was a chameleon enthusiast (honestly) and kept them all. Being chameleons were expensive back then, he couldn't afford to pay for them as a teenager and would just stick them in his pocket.

The ironic thing is that this guy later opened his own local pet store in the area. He still keeps chameleons to this day, but now he can afford to pay for them, lol.
