Real opinion on toadstool corals

Wanted an anemone for my tank then I realized that they are very hard to care for and are taken from the ocean. Is this the same with toadstools, I have snails urchins, and conchs. I want to get one but do they do well in aquariums and how hard are they to are for compared to anemones, any weird lighting and Im pretty sure they require flow right? I don’t have any other coral and I think it would look really awesome to have a toadstool spread across all my live rock. Here’s my tank, what are your opinions?

Toadstools are easy yes. If you find one you like the look of I say go for it.

Toadstool leathers are nuclear bomb proof.
They and other leathers are just about the easiest corals to keep. They do grow slow though, so it takes time before they cover a tank - and they do release toxins that stunt growth of other coral so you want to be careful with how large the colony is if you intend to have other coral. Look into long polyp or weeping willow toadstool - they look just like nems.
Not all anemones are taken from the ocean, many are routinely bred in captivity, often to produce amazing color morphs (just like coral).

Awesome, if I have 2 urchins will they eat it at all? pincushion and pencil.

Urchins are primarily algae eaters so they shouldn’t eat coral.

Love toadstools but go for a really neon green one! Shop around and get the best color!

I currently have three in my tank. The bottom is a Japanese and has the best of colors but grows very slow! The bigger one is over a foot wide. And the one on the right is your normal common toadstool you’ll find at many stores.

Just Ecotech Marine Radions. But you can grow these are any type of reef lighting. Thanks!

Regular reef lighting is fine for toadstools. Blues will bring out colors though (only if it’s a colorful one).
Here’s my toadstool - rather than grow with the folded pattern mine continuously splits into new ones.
It started like this:

I’m not sure if it counts as a weeping willow, but does have really long polyps - one of my favorite corals. The bright yellow on this one is a nice touch. What I still can’t believe is that I got it at a petco!

While they can grow in a wide variety of conditions, they grow best when there is flow in the tank (they like lots of flow, can survive in lower flow), and like lots of light (again, can tolerate lower light).

you can try them, and they’re often inexpensive, but you’ll really be better off with at least some sort of water movement in the tank. That light looks like it could support one but hard to tell… it doesn’t look very powerful but I could be wrong.

Love mine had to search for a while to get one this bright though. High flow high light to get bright colors though. I have 6 noopsyche over it on my 210.

I have lots of varieties of toadstools too. These are a few. They come in a few colors and tentacle length. They are fairly easy to keep.
Have fun finding a nice one to grow out.

Also when they get overgrown they are “very easy” to frag. Something sharp and a little carbon and you’ll have your own toad babies

Definitely bombproof. I have a green cap toadstool that came with the used tank I bought. It looked really rough when I brought it home and went through quite a wild ride since this is my first reef tank so many things went wrong at first.

What About LED’s? Thats what i have right now. I was also thinking about getting some gsp possibly would those do good with LED lights?

The Fluval sea leds will work perfectly.
