I am setting up a new tank and thinking about using the Real Reef Rock. If you are using this rock can you share your experience and thoughts about it, please? Is it worth it? How does it hold up and look after years of being in the tank ectt...

I am using it on my new setup and my thoughts on are this. I’m not going to say it’s better than live rock because it isn’t the porosity live rock offers is in unmatched by man made products that offer the same aesthetic.
However it as more ethical and sustainable and is the responsible choice.
I would suggest you don’t depend on for nitrate conversation and implement another method for dealing with this. Such as marine pure blocks for example.
Hope this helps.

I made a video about scraping my tank with this rock.

Yo @Kman237 I have this in my new tank it has been up for about 1 year I personally like it the only con is some areas that are purple over the months turn white but if you have good growth on of coraline it will cover it up. Other than that I love it 0 pests compared to live rock but like mentioned above you will need something to deal with nitrates. FYI im also in Dallas if you ever need anything let me know.

Awesome neighbor! thanks for the information. It's always nice to meet another reefer in the area!

IMO:

I’m not a fan. Dense, cement based rock. Not very porous. It’s probably good for instant nitrification if you buy it wet, since iirc they cure it and let bacteria grow on it for several weeks prior to shipment, but not much further value for filtration. A bad deal imo at the typical $7-10/gallon retail price.

But, I have a few pieces in interesting shapes.

I have had my tank up for 2.5 years ,,used a lot of the shelf rock because I wanted flat surfaces to grow corals,,,drilled and set up with Marco cement and nylon rods and bolts,,,extremely stable,,looks great .also added their tongs branch which I also think works great!
