So after my horrible death experience from the February freeze here in tx EVERYTHING died in my bio cube coral and all from the cold I tried everything to keep the tank warm but could not beat the freeze....so the tank has still been running but literally has been empty..so I decided to set it up for SH

due to being on a budget right now I’m limited to what I can’t invest coral wise I will add little by little but wanted to know what is considered “saltwater safe” fake coral? For my seahorses that I will be getting soon..is there a Amazon link? Plastic? What is considered safe for them that is fake coral and then later on I will gradually add real coral but need some help thanks

I wish I had advice or a line for a good fake and I am sorry for your loss that’s awful.

What about making a macro tank in the meantime? Cheap, nice and the seahorses will love it.

Yeah I was thinking of micro for later due to the tank being empty I don’t really want it to take away all the good stuff so soon but I was thinking of that too..

thanks for the condolences..I felt horrible

Some of those fake anemone are made out of silicone. That is safe.
I was thinking about them but I remember long time ago I bought one for my clown fish and after few weeks it started getting slimy and some kind of white cloudy stuff was around it in my FOWLR soon got scared and took it out I don’t know if that was normal

Probably just bacterial coating. I don't know honestly never had one but I know its inert. Something made out of epoxy would be ok also. That is really resistant to chemicals as well.

I would get some macro algae and some cheap photosynthetic gorgonians. Personally, I think fake aquarium decor is sacrilege if you’re a dedicated hobbyist, don’t even like it for freshwater, not even for a goldfish. Or get some dead coral branches (look on eBay or Etsy). I love the look of a macro and softie/gorgonian tank. Also, you can keep macro and some gorgonians and soft corals at lower temps (like 72° or so), which will vastly prolong the life of your seahorse (at tropical temps, ie ~78°, they have around 1/10 the lifespan compared to cooler/temperate water, like less than a year vs 8 years). Might even need to consider getting a chiller if it’s hot where you live and you don’t have good AC.

Thanks...I’m not a fan of fake decor in my tanks either my bio cube was full of beautiful coral that I grew for 2 years and the time and money I invested really hurt me to see it die from the freeze we had really hurt me

so I was thinking about getting fake just for temporary and switching it out later with live coral...but I do already have some dead coral in my tank me and my husband like the look of it lol I’ll look on Etsy to see for some deed coral branches thanks I’m really looking forward to adding some sponge !! I love the sponge lol
