Really big Flatworm?

What are your parameters?
I can't see the picture. :cool:
It sounds terrible.

It's a miracle! I don't know what I did but I see the skinny worm now in my post?
Looks similar perhaps to the EEFW that someone posted earlier today. Do you have any hammer, torch, or similar LPS? That's what they are supposed to eat.

Nope that holding tank has had no coral for three months.

Maybe it's looking for food then. Glad it won't find any.

Cue the movie theme from Jaws. Terrifying! :astonished-face:

Horrifying!

@ISpeakForTheSeas thoughts?
I'm pretty confident it's a ribbon worm (Nemertean) of some variety, as it doesn't have the skirt you'd find around flatworms. Unfortunately, I don't know which specific ribbon worm it is as I haven't gotten around to studying ribbon worms in depth yet, but my best guess at the moment would be Oerstedia dorsalis.

There are a few other ribbon worms that I've seen that also look similar to this, but the only ID's I've found on them so far have been genus level guesses (as in, they're not certain even about the genus for them, so it could be something totally different than listed).

Regardless, most ribbon worms are predators of small inverts (worms, clams, pods, possibly small shrimp, etc.), so if you have any sexy shrimp or similar they could be in danger, but otherwise it's probably harmless.

Edit: Ah, I should also add, they typically hunt through secretion of toxins on their proboscis and skin, so it's probably best you don't touch them barehanded.
