I'm in the process of planning my custom triton sump and the space I have for a skimmer is pretty tight.

Here are the dimensions:

Sump = 24" x 10.5" footprint
Pump = 3.1" x 6"
Skimmer = 6.1" x 8"

Please refer to the attachments for reference. Considering the thickness of the acrylic and the baffle, I'll probably only have up to .25" for the inlet of the skimmer. The inlet for the skimmer will be right up the glass. Will this be a problem?

I would think it would cause a big intake restriction. I can't find we're but I swear I read somewhere that you want 3-4 inches of space in front of the intake at minimum. If you have the room I would just go buy a 40 breader tank and build yourself a sump and save a ton of money. I built mine out of a used 90 gallon tank I bought for $50 and put another $75 into it with glass and silicone and a hour of my time. Most hardware stores sell the glass and will cut it to size so all you have to do is silicone them in and let it dry and cure for 6 or 7 days.
