reason for melting palys???

well i know there have been discussions all over about palys melting. or as i say turning into goo.

ive never personally experienced this until last week. i purchased a colony of light green palys. i have lost probably half of the colony. i keep cuting out the goo ones but lost 4 more today to it. i have checked the colony for critters but cant find anything. they have also been dipped a few times in lugols which usually helps but not this time.

so is there any theory on what causes this melting phenomenon ?

I dont think that it has been figured out yet, some sort of infection. If Lugols is not helping try a peroxide dip. Do 75 percent of your tank water sand 25 percent peroxide. Leave them in the dip for about ten minutes. Once they are placed back into the tank try to put them in high flow and in the darkest place possible. It has worked for me.

My PEonAcid melt before my eyes daily, then they are OK the next day...

But on a serious note, hope you can get it to clear up. Wish I had an answer but haven't had it happen to me yet. Keep us posted on what happens.

yeah those are very nice. i dont know its so weird, its literally like they turn into little globs of goo, its really weird.

mine seem to do the same they look like they are about to fall off the plug too so this is a normal thing?
